Two strange phenomena have recently begun occurring in my life.

First, I have become a compulsive smiler/winker. Whenever I speak to a guest at Target (at Target, you are not merely a customer, you are our special guest) I have been automatically giving them a smile and a wink at the end of each conversation. Now, there's nothing wrong with giving people a smile and a wink, it's like you're saying, "That wasn't just a conversation, it was a 'party-sation', filled with whimsy and fun!" But it's like my right eye has become an entity unto itself, indiscriminately giving out winks like Santa Claus dispensing candy canes at the mall to naughty and nice alike, without even giving me a say in the matter!

Secondly, and even more disturbing to me, is that I have evolved into a limp hand handshaker. I'm befuddled at how this could have happened! That's not the person I want to be! Nothing says, "I'd rather be anywhere but here, doing anything but this." than a limp, "dead fish" handshake. Although ~ my hands are not cold, like a fish, they're warm. Always warm. Not sweaty, just warm. So, it's like shaking hands with a warm, fluffy, lazy old cat. Like I'm saying, "You do all the work 'cause I'm napping over here."

Quote of the Day

While speaking to Diane Sawyer about her kidnapping ordeal, Jaycee Dugard, who is a courageous, uplifting, inspirational young woman, said something that "spoke" to me. Speaking of the memory of her mother, Terry Probyn, that she clung to, and speaking of her precious daughters, she said:

"Even if it is just one thing or person you have to be thankful for, that is enough." ~Jaycee Dugard

Sometimes, when I'm feeling lonely and friendless (although I know in reality that's not the case, but I think we all feel that way sometimes), I know that I have my one true best friend, my husband, who loves and accepts me no matter what, and I'm so grateful for him! He will always be my reason for pressing on.

How to Make Hard Boiled Eggs

Actually, this is a demonstration on how to make soft boiled, medium boiled, and hard boiled eggs. I personally prefer medium boiled eggs. This video comes from the Rouxbe online cooking school. They have excellent cooking videos which I most definitely will be posting in the future.

Simmer times:
  • Soft - 8 minutes
  • Medium - 10 minutes
  • Hard - 12 minutes

Custom Postage Stamps

I think this is so neat! Did you know that you can make custom postage stamps with your own pictures, sayings, and logos on them? Stamps that work like real, mailable postage stamps! I had no idea! How fun would that be for weddings, holidays, etc. You can find everything you need to know at Zazzle.com.

(This is not a paid advertisement, I just thought it was cool.)

Funny State Farm Commercial

Okay, I'm really not a television commercial stalker or something, but this one tickled my funny bone too.

Food to Suit my Mood

I first wanted to bring your attention to this great idea - salad in a jar from Salad in a Jar. You really should check it out!

BUT, since I'm feeling kind of down in the dumps today, I'm opting more towards these Bikini Killer Cookies from Bakers Royale. I'm not actually going to eat either today, but I'm hoping that one day, they'll both find their way into my life ~ and my mouth :0)
